RUMOURS: SGF BOSS MUSTAPHA UNDER PROBE FOR MASSIVE CORRUPTION

Since December, 2017 when over one thousand names were released as Chairmen and members of the Boards and Parastatals, the SGF office has been under various attacks and accusations of manipulation of the names of people for various appointments.

The accusations include but not limited to substitution of some names and changing of people from one board to another.
The event of the last few months saw the SGF office becoming more daring by ultering and changing names approved by Mr President for the heads of some Agencies and Parastatals.
This ugly development caught the attention of Mr President when few of the people shortchanged found their ways back and reported to him. Therefore, President Muhammadu Buhari has given order for secret but thorough investigation into the whole embarrassing allegations against the SGF to determine the level of involvement of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gida Mustapha and others.
According to the source from Presidential villa who pleaded to be anonymous, "the President felt terribly bitter over the matter and thus want to uncover the truth".

"Yes, the President is aware of how some names he approved for some agencies' heads were been allegedly changed, on the allegations of collection of huge monies in millions of Naira to announce different people.
He is also aware that some of the appointments he has approved for several months now, are either not announced publicly or some of them that were announced are been prevented from resuming their offices because they have not 'settle' or that those occupying the offices (outgoing heads) are setting very heavily."

The source said further, "there were so many appointments that have been approved by the President that are still pending in SGF office, he only treat those ones that have settled him. Or how do you explained the so many cases of tenure expiration of some agencies and SGF office wouldn't act immediately.
All SGF is busy doing is to extort from incumbent Heads with the promise to get them fresh new tenure or extension of tenure of office. Where he couldn't get Presidential approval, he will just refuse to give any official communication, hence  the activities of such agencies become epileptic in operations."
When such complaints reached the President, he immediately ordered for secret probe into the activities of the SGF and his office as regards to appointments of Heads of agencies and Parastatals.

Another source corroborated the earlier position and said "the President lamented so terribly that his SGF could be involved in such act capable of sabotaging his efforts".  While some sources in the SGF office agreed that "the way and manners the new SGF is handling the appointment matter is so secretive and unconventional."
Recently, over half a dozen of agencies heads got all their tenure renewed amidst several protest by the staff unions of some agencies and corruption allegations against them.
While some agencies heads' had their tenure expired and no directive from SGF office on who to take over. Thank God for the active response of some Ministers on few occasions that gave directives for most senior Director to take over.
And this is happening against the Presidential detectives that all head of agencies still remaining from the last administration should proceed on terminal leave since March this year to pave way for the new appointments.
The President recently gave another order that all pending appointments should be released before the end of this month of June 2018, to enhance the effective and efficient performance of the new budget for 2018.
However wish to know the level of culpability of The SGF, Permanent Secretaries in SGF office and all that are involved before they are dragged to the EFCC OR ICPC.

It was reliably gathered that the SGF is aware of the impending danger ahead as regards the probe and he has ran to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for help.
Another source in the party said SGF is a fifth columnist in the Buhari Government.
"He (Boss Mustapha) has resolved to maximize his gain from that office because he doesn't believe in Buhari leadership that much".
He further said that "Mustapha has expressed serious doubt on some occasions while with his friends that 2019 is not too sure for President Buhari."
That cannot be too amazing because of Boss outstanding relationship over a period of years with Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President.
Apart from coming from same state, Boss is one of the closet confidant and dependable Atiku’s political son in Adamawa State.

Court orders EFCC to unfreeze Nyako’s account

The Federal High Court, Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to unconditionally unfreeze the account of Sen. Abdullaziz Nyako and a company linked to him.

In the judgment on Friday, the judge held that the sealing and forfeiture of the applicants’ property by the EFCC was unlawful and oppressive.
“In conclusion, the application has merit, same is hereby granted but with following indications, that is, only reliefs 1, 2, and 3 are expressly granted while reliefs 4,5 and 6 are refused.
“The commission is hereby ordered to unfreeze the account of the applicants unconditionally and forthwith.
“The commission, having sealed up the premises of the applicants since July 2014, should unseal it forthwith or better still open up the Hillview Estate immediately,” the judge ordered.

OSINBANJO VISITS LAGOS OVER OTEDOLA BRIDGE FIRE

Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Friday evening visited the Lagos House in Alausa Ikeja to convey the condolences of the Federal Government to the State Government on the tragic tanker explosion on Thursday at the Otedola Bridge which claimed lives and properties.
Osinbajo, who spoke shortly after a closed door meeting with the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, said the Federal Government was deeply saddened by the incident, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari had delegated him to visit the State to commiserate with the people of Lagos on the unfortunate incident.

“I am here to commiserate with the government and people of Lagos State on the tragedy that occurred just yesterday. It’s a very terrible thing and all of us were deeply saddened by it. Before Mr. President left this morning he asked me to express his sincere condolences to his Excellency and also to the people of the State. It’s a very deeply saddening event and we pray this sort of thing will never repeat itself.
Responding, Governor Ambode thanked the Vice President for finding time to visit to condole with the people of the State in this moment of grief, saying that it was a testament to the fact that the Federal Government was deeply concerned about the safety of lives and property of residents in the State.
Governor Ambode also assured the Vice President that the situation had been brought under control and normalcy had been restored within the axis where the incident occurred, saying that all hands are on deck to prevent such incidents in future.
“Normalcy has come back to the city and we believe strongly that other measures will be put in place to make sure that things go on normally,” he said.
The Governor equally thanked his counterpart in Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who was also at the Lagos House to express his condolences, while commiserating with all the families who lost their loved ones as well as properties in the inferno.
Speaking earlier, Aregbesola commiserated with the government and people of Lagos State, particularly those who lost their loved ones and properties to the tragedy, but said the incident called to question the need to revisit road worthiness certification for vehicles initiated by the Lagos State Government.
We have to now ask again for our governments to revive the MOT certification of vehicles because if all vehicles are very road worthy, probably the dastardly accident of yesterday would have been avoided.
“Our sympathy can only be meaningful if we do the right thing to prevent such occurrence and so let us revive the spirit of ensuring road worthiness of vehicles on our roads particularly those ones that have capacity for mass destruction such as articulated vehicles,” Aregbesola added.

BREAKING NEWS: PRESIDENT FIRES HEAD OF COUNTRY'S ELECTORAL COMMISSION FOR MISBEHAVIOUR AND INCOMPETENCE

President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has fired the head of the country’s Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei for misbehaviour and incompetence.

The Information Minister Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said, the removal of Charlotte Osei and her two deputies were based on a recommendation by a special committee set up by the chief justice to investigate complaints against them.
The three were directed to transfer their duties to the director for human resource and general services of the commission.
The presidency said last year it had referred a petition from some workers at the Electoral Commission, accusing Osei of abuse of office, to the chief justice for investigation.
Osei denied the accusations and the main opposition has repeatedly said they are trumped up. Osei, a former corporate lawyer, was appointed by former President John Mahama in mid-2015.
She successfully supervised a general election in 2016 which was won by Akufo-Addo, then leader of the main opposition.
The West African major commodity exporter will hold presidential and parliamentary elections in December 2020, in a vote that will be a close contest between Akufo-Addo’s New Patriotic Party and the main opposition National Democratic Congress.

Stakeholders of the PDP in the North East converged in Gombe for a two-day meeting to plot how the zone can clinch the party’s presidential ticket for the 2019 general elections.

In a communiqué issued to newsmen at the end of the meeting chaired by the Zonal Chairman of the party, Amb. Emmanuel Njiwah, the zone agreed to solicit for support from other geo-political zones in the North to support someone from the North East to become the presidential candidate of the party.
The Chairman of the PDP in Adamawa State, Barr. Tahir Shehu,  said elders of the party from the zone had been meeting with leaders of the party, especially from the North West, to gather support for the aspiration of either Gov. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo or Atiku Abubakar, the only two aspirants from the zone that have so far shown interest to contest for the presidency.
He said that the PDP North East zonal office has resolved to work for the emergence of either Gov. Dankwambo or Atiku Abubakar as the party’s flag-bearer come 2019.
The stakeholders noted that the North East had been left behind for a long time despite contributing to the emergence of presidents from other zones, particularly the North West.
He added that the zonal leadership of the party had also condemned the killing of innocent Nigerians in the North without proactive measures by the APC-led Federal Government to tackle the carnage.

Abacha loot: Cash transfers to 302,000 poor homes begin in July

The Federal Government says it will commence disbursement of the recovered 322 million dollars Abacha loot through Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT) to 302,000 poor households in 19 states in July.
Mr Tukur Rumar, of the National Cash Transfer Office (NTCO), said this at a roundtable on assets recovery organised by the Swiss Embassy on Thursday, in Abuja.

In an eventorganised to intimate citizens and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on the efforts both nations were making on asset recovery after the Post-Global Forum on Assets Recovery (GFAR) held in Washington D.C. in Dec. 2017.
At the forum, Nigeria made commendable commitments on beneficial ownership, tax transparency, asset recovery, transparency management of recovered funds and payments to victims of corruption.
The states are: Niger, Kogi, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Kwara, Cross River, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarrawa, Anambra and Internally Displaced Camps (IDPs) in Borno.

According to Rumar of the National Cash Transfer Office, the benefiting households will receive N5,000 monthly and are derived from the National Social Register (NSR) that the 19 states are already on.
He said the programme was designed to also train beneficiaries on livelihood skills, social skills and other programmes that would change their lives completely.
Rumar, however, noted that NCTO had been making payments to the 46,000 poor and vulnerable households across the 19 states since Dec. 2016, adding that the number had increased to 290,000.
According to Mr Iorwa Apera, the National Coordinator, National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), said 503,055 households were already on the NSR register from the 19 states, adding that by July, there would be a social register for all the states of the federation.
He mentioned that of the Abacha loot, about 302,000 poor homes across the 19 states would be mined by the NCTO to begin to receive the Abacha loot.

Apera told the participants that the Federal Government would begin with those states, because they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NASSCO to put in place certain infrastructure to empower the national register. Mrs Linda Ekeator of the office of the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment said the Abacha loot was invested in the social investment programme, because it was a programme that was already supported by the World Bank.
She said that before the money was returned to Nigeria, there was an agreement with the Swiss government that it should be used for alleviating poverty and this was to be done with the supervision of the World Bank.
The Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Eric Mayoraz said the 722 million dollars of the Abacha family money that was hidden in Switzerland was fully repatriated in 2005. He also said that the 322 million dollars that was repatriated in Dec. 2017, was money that was frozen by the Swiss Attorney-General, but was not domiciled in Switzerland, but in other countries, mainly Luxembourg.
He, however, said measures had been put in place to ensure that Swiss banks were not used to hide stolen funds from other countries. “For possible new cases, the Swiss legislation has fundamentally changed.
The Executive Director, ANEEJ, Rev. David Ugolor, said for Nigerian citizens to not keep spreading rumours about the whereabouts of recovered loots, the government must be transparent in all the processes. He also said that CSOs should be given access to the social register to enable it monitor properly whether or not the beneficiaries received what was due to them.
